I have always loved exploring the world and broadening my horizons. It has also amazed me how the memories of these trips focus sometimes on very specific details. When I was in my early twenties, I traveled the US, both North and West, and Coast to Coast, both exploring the country as well as visiting family in Holland (Michigan). One of the key memories of the trips were the massive freight trains that would pass through small towns and keep you waiting endlessly. When I went back to the States, it was so amazing to rekindle this that I wanted to capture this memory on canvas.
